Homeopathy works on the principle of “like cures like”.

For example
Onions can make our eyes sting and water and our noses run.

  • Allium Cepa (onion)  is one possible remedy for hayfever or a
    cold where these symptoms feature.

Coffee keeps many people awake if drunk too late in the day.

  • Coffea the homeopathic remedy made from the coffee plant
may help certain types of insomnia.

Tiny, energised doses of appropriate remedy are used to help
the body return to better health.

Remedies may be given in pill or liquid form.  Both methods
are pleasant to take.

Homeopathy has had an increasingly difficult time in the press and
media recently.  Ten years ago very little was heard about it on
national radio or news coverage.  However, now it is frequently
rubbished by people such as Ben Goldacre and Professor Ernst.  There
seems little point in rising to the bait since so many people clearly
find that it works for themselves, their children, pets and
farm stock.  ‘Quackbusters’ often quote that if it works at all,
then it must do so via ‘the placebo effect’.

However, does that argument seem to stand up when babies and
animals are effectively treated?   They can have no clue as to what
they are being given!

Does it matter if someone is sceptical?
No, they just need to want to get better.

An eminent homeopathic vet, Geoff Johnson, qualified to treat
animals and humans homeopathically found his way to homeopathy
via desperation and scepticism.  At the Glastonbury Festival some
years ago, he had severe hayfever and went to the tent where the
registered homeopaths were.    He made the rash and bold statement
that if anyone could sort out his hayfever with homeopathy, then he
would become a homeopath!   Rather like “If you can do this, then I’ll
eat my hat!”  They did and he did!  Fortunately for him, he hadn’t
made the rash statement about his hat!
